Can you help PADS in any of these ways ... read on for details of all these and more, or just click the item that interests you.
Fundraising
Maybe you, your dog club or your place of work can organise a fundraising event for PADS?
Let us know what you're planning and we will help if we can. We may be able to offer printing, certificates or prizes, or an official collecting box. And we'll certainly support you with publicity on our website and in our newsletter "Pawprints".
Otherwise, we'd love to hear from anyone who can offer a bit of time to help out with the planning or running of our regular events. (See the events calendar for details.)
Can you collect prizes? Write to potential sponsors? Offer advertising in your club newsletter? Help behind the scenes on the day?
Either way, please get in touch.
Please note that PADS is a member of the Fundraising Standards Board self-regulatory scheme. We follow the FRSB's Codes of Fundraising Practice and comply with the following key principles embodied in the Codes. Fundraisers will be asked to keep the Fundraising Promise which means you should be:
- honest and open
- clear
- respectful
- fair and reasonable
- accountable

Supporting events and activities
If you, your club or business can sponsor a leaflet or advice line, donate prizes or a trophy for our dog show, or offer us office equipment, PADS needs to hear from you.
You can also include us as a recommended charity for events organised by your sports and social club, or add us to your employer's Give As You Earn scheme.
Bequests
Writing a will is important for pet owners because it gives you peace of mind about who will care for your animals when you are no longer able to do so. It can also be used to make a bequest to PADS, so please remember us when you write your will, and make sure you mention our charity number - 1005793.
Spreading the word
Not all events are designed to raise funds. Some get our name better known, promote the use of our leaflets and advice service or raise standards of dog ownership. We can provide resources and ideas for this type of event, e.g. leaflets, posters and cards.
Can you display these in vets, libraries, clubs or shops? Recruit new members? Include an article about PADS in your club magazine? (We'll even supply the article if you like.) Offer us advertising in your dog show schedule or catalogue? Get in touch.
If you have a website, please include us in your links page. We can reciprocate if you let us have your URL. Ours is http://www.padsonline.org. You can use a text link, or our banner or "wagging paddy" logo.
Voluntary work for pads
P.A.D.S. doesn't employ anyone, and without our dedicated band of volunteers we would get nothing done. Can you join them?
Our main need at the moment is for Committee Members, who undertake the wide variety of activities necessary to keep P.A.D.S. running smoothly. Volunteering may mean using skills you already have, or it may enable you to build or discover new ones.
You don't need any special experience or knowledge to become a Committee member. We can often provide training via local CVS courses if you want it, and if you're starting out on a new career, this can look good on your CV. You will need to be a member of PADS (for legal and insurance reasons) and your own transport is useful.
Meetings are held roughly once a month, in the evening, and although it's not essential to come to every one, regular attendance is important. You will also need time available for the tasks you offer to do between meetings, and to attend events which are usually at the weekend.
Meetings are fairly informal. They are held in West Yorkshire (a few minutes drive from junction 31 of the M62), and you are encouraged to attend a couple of meetings as our guest before deciding whether to go ahead and join the Committee.
A word about work experience
Because PADS is staffed entirely by volunteers, working from their own homes, in their spare time, we are unable to offer work placements or work experience.
